I have BOSCH mixer owners right me on a fairly regular basis asking about giving their Mixer a good deep cleaning.....and questions about the blender cleaning too. Here you go for how I keep mine maintained. I definitely don't do this weekly or even monthly but just when it needs a good clean up.
To clean the blender base:
You have to unscrew the bottom of the blender...turn it over...you will see /handles/ to hang onto and arrows pointing which way to turn...it most likely will take your husband's muscles...I can't do it myself. Then the cone base screws right out...the piece that has the blades attached to it...and there is a rubber gasket (that is replaceable if it is now leaky?) and I would recommend washing all of that thoroughly and maybe even soaking it in a mild bleach solution with bleach and water for sanitizing.
Then slip the gasket back onto the cone blade base the way it was and screw it back in the bottom of the blender...it has to be very tight so it won't leak.
I also undo the 4 screws in the bottom of my BOSCH mixer bowl and remove the shaft and clean it all out about 1x a year with bleach solution, an old toothbrush etc...and dry it all well and put it back...you will see how it comes apart and just put it back the same way and don't lose those 4 little screws :)
I also use WD 40 and cotton swabs in my drive area on the base where the bowl sits...as it can get all gunky....I spray lots of WD and then swab it all out and clean that area up.
I've had my mixer for years and it still sings like a top and makes our daily bread and looks very nice so this is a tried and proven method of maintenance. :)
